Center for Grantmaking Research
Both funders and grantees can benefit from more knowledge creation and sharing on philanthropic grantmaking. Therefore, the Center for Grantmaking Research aims to stimulate the co-creation of knowledge on different philanthropic grantmaking practices and their consequences. The Center connects researchers, program officers, charity lottery professionals, nonprofit managers, fundraisers, government officials and other stakeholders.
The Center for Grantmaking Research is founded in March, 2021. The first project examines the advantages and disadvantages of unrestricted funding. This study is led by prof. Pamala Wiepking, who holds the part-time chair ‘Societal significance of charity lotteries’ at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in addition to her position as Visiting Stead Family Chair in International Philanthropy at the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. The research is supported by a generous contribution from the Dutch Postcode Lottery.
